Please, don't flame me. I just went by the text book. This is in no way trying to prove or disprove any of your favorite pairings. It's just class work. v.v

Death Note Pairing Bases On Psychology




LightxL — Possible

Yagami Light (Kira): A class A killer with class and intelligent. Smart and witty, with initiative and the capability to think on his toes. A man with a God Complex and high standards pertaining to his beliefs on the law. Only capable of remaining calm when all is going according to plan. One false move, and paranoia sets in and causes Yagami to falter. Believes criminals should be punished by death for doing something to land them in prison and that making the world as so is the only way to have a crime free future.

L Lwaliet: A ingenious detective assigned to the Kira case who will do anything necessary to get his man including risk allowing a death row inmate to go free if Kira does not kill him. Immoral at times, but still incredibly accurate in applying his skill to catching “Kira”. He is antisocial and Germphobic, with an obsession over sweet foods. He also displays an unhealthy childlike demeanor that suggests he was improperly loved as a child.


Relations: Yagami Light exhibits the traits opposite from one L Lawliet.
Examples: Social skills, lust for power, etc.
While also having a few key aspects that are similar: Intelligence and cleanliness.

Rebuttal: Some may suggest that Light and L are not “gay”. However, clues given out by each male’s behavior says otherwise.
Example: Light’s willingness to allow one L Lawliet to hang over him and come into such close contact with him/his body, Mannerisms each shows to one another, Light’s inability for forget L after his passing, Regret.

Conclusion: All of these suggest that it is indeed possible for Subject 1 (Light Yagami) to indeed be intimate with Subject 2 (L Lawliet) despite “Kira” as long as Light (Kira) is the dominant one in the relationship.


MattxMello — Probable

Matt: A easily addicted male figure who loves video games, fast cars, and big guns. For the most parts, he is highly reclusive, but manages to get out from time to time to do Mello’s bidding. Smokes and Drinks, Highly lazy, yet with a high capability to pay attention to detail. Common Techy type.

Mello: Hot headed blonde bombshell with anger issues and a huge inferiority complex. Dreams of being number one and defeating the one person in his way by finishing his mentors work in anyway possible. Never gives up, even when the chips are down. Capable of fighting to the very end. Wears fancy cloths. Cares about his appearance and is a very social person.


Matt (Mail Jeevas), an antisocial gamer would need special requirements to have any significant other period. Someone who’s not afraid to make the first contact and keep the lines of communication flowing, someone who’s brash and can pull the inattentive gamer to attention, someone with good looks-Sexy, and someone whom the gamer would not become bored with easily. Mihael Keehl is the perfect example of all of these examples. He is very social, brash, loud, and always likes to be the center of attention, possesses a thin, feminine figure, and his lifestyle provides a good amount of adventure to always keep the gamer on his toes. In return, the gamer is capable of giving the blonde all of the attention and loyalty he needs to be satisfied. A classic win/win situation.

However, this will only work with the Gamer (Matt) is dominant in this relationship as said gamer is still very much a man and would wish to keep that image of himself pristine. The blonde, though genuinely tough and dominant outside of the bedroom, would more than likely desire someone who can cater to his every whim, there by seeking a man who can satisfy him with his hands.



BBxL —Impossible

BB: Murderer of three people, attempted to surpass his mentor by becoming the world’s greatest criminal. Failed. He is intelligent but dark. Curious and experimental. With a mind for puzzles, and a knack for acting he can blend into most any situation with virtually no flaw. Clean freak, obsessive compulsive, and highly accurate in most everything he works on. A highly deadly man in every way.

L Lawliet: Reclusive. Without desire for human contact. Easily unimpressed, secretive, with a strong belief in the law and justice. Believer that the good guy always wins. Inelegant. World’s greatest detective.


BB (Beyond Birthday), the second successor of L Lawliet harbors strong signs of obsession over his mentor. This does not promote a strong attraction on either end and though B might feel like he loves this mentor, he in no way can or ever will be capable of supplying what said L Lawliet really needs in a relationship.

Case and point, Beyond Birthday and L Lawliet could not be an actual couple unless one or both change complete in character. Obsession is not love.
